Dear Mayor Kwame M. Kilpatrick:
I am writing you a letter on my concern about the poor citizens who are suffering with AIDS/HIV who are not able to pay for their medicines.
According to the “American Journal of Public health,” about 37.5 million adults and 2.5 million kids are living with AIDS or HIV. AIDS and HIV is one of the leading causes of death in America. Blacks accounted 50% of HIV/AIDS cases and the poorest survival rate after being diagnosed with AIDS of all US racial and ethnic groups.
I stand for a lot of people when I ask: can you please donate time in education for people who are suffering with AIDS? The reason why I ask this is because there are poor people in the world who can not afford their medicines, who really need them or could benefit from an AIDS Awareness Class. Over forty million people have died because they couldn’t afford to pay for medicine or didn’t have health care.
Maybe one day, with time and research, a cure for HIV infection will be found and AIDS will no longer exist. Until then, the smartest thing to do is to know the facts and not put yourself at risk of having HIV or AIDS. Mayor, will you please help start some AIDS awareness classes? Thank you for spending time in reading my letter.
