AIDS and HIV have become a huge problem and I feel this should be addressed. AIDS and HIV is one of the leading causes of death for Americans. Every one should put on his/her “to do” list to go to the nearest clinic and get tested, especially if you are sexual active.
There are a few risk behaviors that make a person more susceptible to contract AIDS or HIV. A person who has multiple sex partners or has sex for money is at great risk of HIV or AIDS. The usage of drugs and drinking will also put you at great risk of HIV or AIDS. The last risk behavior is to have sexual contact with a person who has AIDS or HIV.
HIV stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus. AIDS stands for Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome. HIV is actually the virus that causes the disease AIDS. According to Cecilia Dipentima, “it affects a type of white blood cell called the lymphocyte or T cell” (Dipentima). She listed that, “in June 2005 my research indicates that 40 million people are living with HIV or AIDS infection” (Dipentima). About 37.5 million adults and 2.5 million kids are living with AIDS or HIV”. AIDS and HIV is the leading cause of death in America. You can be born with HIV or AIDS. HIV destroys part of the immune.
I hope one day that there will be a cure for HIV positive people ands that this will be a world that is AIDS negative. What about You? If you are having sexually contact you should strongly consider getting tested.
